Learning, Sharing and Losing Words, Prof. Tess Fitzpatrick at Abralin Ao Vivo

In our latest blog, we thought we’d share Prof. Tess Fitzpatrick’s talk on ‘Learning, Sharing and Losing Words’, given at this year’s Linguists Online, an innovative series of talks organised by Abralin Ao Vivo, the Linguistics Association based in Brazil.

Throughout the year, but most usually though the summer period, academics often attend conferences, giving talks on their research as part of our remit to sharing and disseminating knowledge.

As we all know, 2020 has meant re-thinking our ways of working, networking and disseminating research during the COVID-19 pandemic, and this talk was one of several in the series organised by Abralin Ao Vivo in response to these new practices. The series have included talks by David Crystal, Steven Pinker, William Labov, Noam Chomsky, Salikoko S. Mufwene, and John McWhorter.

Enjoy!
