Nuria is a researcher in applied linguistics, focusing on areas such as discourse analysis, corpus linguistics, multimodality, and digital influence and manipulation.

Vivienne’s research interests fall into two areas: psycholinguistics and second language acquisition. She is also the head of our Language Research Centre (LRC).

Dr Jill Boggs University profile page
Jill’s area of expertise includes second language learning and teaching, second language writing and corrective feedback in applied linguistics. She is also our MA programme director and study abroad co-ordinator.
Mr Neal Evans
Neal Evans currently works in both the Applied Linguistics department and English Language Training Services and teaches on the TEFL/TESOL strand embedded in our degree programmes. He is also a CELTA trainer.

Alexia’s research interests lie in film genre, language, gender and the media, feminism and post-feminism, women in film and adaptation. She is head of the Applied Linguistics subject area as well as our employability lead.

Chris teaches linguistics and translation studies with particular interest in the use of computer and web resources for linguistic research, language education and translating. He is responsible for the MA in Chinese Translation and Teaching programme.

Ben’s research interests include dialectology and the Welsh English dialect as well as stylistics and discourse analysis. He is also our undergraduate admissions officer, outreach organiser and social media coordinator (blog, Twitter and Instagram).

Stella’s research interests are instructed second language acquisition, second language vocabulary teaching and learning and English and Chinese as second/foreign languages. She is our LRC seminar series coordinator.
Mr Steve Morris University Profile page
Steve’s teaching and research focus has been on Applied Linguistics and the Welsh language, primarily in the fields of sociolinguistics, language planning, language acquisition and linguistics. Steve is our honorary research fellow in the subject area having taught in Applied Linguistics for many years.
